Digeum Mix Session: 03 Kilo
November 17th, 2009Digeum Mix Session 03 Kilo was completed and posted this weekend. This is a Dubstep mix at 140 BPM. This is the first mix I’ve done using Traktor Pro. (I upgraded from Traktor 3 a couple of months ago.) Due to that, there are some flubs mostly centered around my playing around with the new FX stuff. Despite that, I really like how this one turned out. It’s a good mix of Dubstep music with a few surprises in there. It was pretty fun to complete and it makes me want to do another mix very soon.

Digeum Mix Session 03 Bravo
September 9th, 2009On Sunday, I threw down a (mostly) electro-house mix. I really think this was my best mix yet. I took the time to setup grid-markers in Traktor and it really helped to keep the trainwrecks to a minimum. The only one that kinda sounds trainwrecky is the transition into and out of the track Electro Cla$h, but I think that was built into the song.
The first 4 tracks are especially spot-on and I get a little giddy when I hear the transitions between them. Specifically the transition between Dirty Freak 2009 and Bass Fresh. Bass Fresh had a little lead bit with just an 8-bar vox sample. I looped it and hit that. Every 16th bar I would slide the crossfader over to just that track and play the sample. On the third loop, I accidentally slid it over too early and created some dead air for a second before the sample came in. Even that worked. It’s a subtle trick, but it makes me happy.

New Track – Superhootie

Superhootie
My newest track, and the first I’ve actually finished in a fair amount of time. This track is very special to me. Not just because it’s a fun track and I am happy with how it sounds.
The song, Superhootie is named after the real Superhootie, my friend Hilary. I met Hilary from Twitter last year. Since then, she and I have become good friends.
A quick story about Hilary:
When I got my Pulmonary Embolism last fall, I was rushed by ambulance to one of the primary hospitals here in Boise. After spending time in the Emergency Room, I was sent up to ICU for the first day of my recovery. I was sitting in the ICU for a short time and in comes the CNA assigned to my room, Hilary. We were both surprised to see each other and we talked for a bit before she had to go see to her other patients.
It may not seem like much. After all, she was simply doing her job. In fact, she asked me if I wanted to request to have another CNA assigned. (After all, certain aspects of her job could result in awkward situation if they came up.) However, I felt a considerable amount of relief to know she was there that day. That was really the first time I’ve ever been taken to the hospital for anything that serious, and I was scared as hell.
I don’t know if Hilary even knows how much it means to me that she was just there for me that day. This is the reason that I wrote her theme song. It is a small token of my appreciation of her for being a good friend.
Hilary’s bio on Twitter reads:
“Full-time RN student, full-time CNA at a hospital, & my own private rock star!”
To me, Hilary is more than a rock star. She is a superstar. <3 Hilary!

Digeum Mix Sessions: 02 Session Kilo
May 6th, 2009Digeum Mix Sessions 02 Kilo is posted to digeum.org.
This is a departure from the usual mix sessions, because this one is not House. That’s right, baby. Dubstep in the house!
There are a couple of flubs, but overall, I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out.
Check it out, here.
New Mix Session: Digeum Mix Session 02 Juliet
May 5th, 2009I flew down to the San Francisco bay area this last weekend and spent some time with my friends there. I was staying with Apollo, so we produced a new tag-team Mix Session which got named 02 Juliet.
This is my first mix on the road (or at least the first that was produced outside of Idaho).
Digeum Mix Session 02 Juliet is 2 hours and 12 minutes of mostly soulful and disco house with a few surprises thrown in.
Check it out here.
